Napoli vs Lazio
Napoli have suddenly found form in Serie A since losing to Como in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals last month, as they’ve lost only one of their last eight games. However, given their sizeable gap to the frontrunners, Inter Milan, the Partenopei are likely fighting for second place with six matchdays remaining in the 2025-26 campaign.
Following their 1-1 draw against Parma, Napoli, at 66 points, will return home to the Diego Maradona Stadium on Saturday night to host Lazio, who are seven notches below them in the Italian top-flight standings with 44 points.
After going on a three-game winning streak, Lazio dropped points in their 1-1 draw against Parma and 1-0 loss against Fiorentina last Monday. But unlike Napoli, they’re still alive in the Coppa Italia, their last hope for silverware this term. Maurizio Sarri’s side is 13 points adrift from European football, so his men do not have much else to play for in the league.
Talking Points
McTominay could be in for a huge payday with Napoli
Scott McTominay saved Napoli from embarrassment against Parma last time out with his much-needed equaliser in the hour mark after the team conceded a super early goal from Gabriel Strefezza. With eight goals and three assists this term, the former Manchester United star is the Partenopei’s second-leading scorer and playmaker.

Given his consistency throughout the season, McTominay could be in for a huge payday. He is still under contract with Napoli until June, but Napoli are reportedly planning to give him a bumper new deal to prolong his stay in Naples. Local reports claim that Napoli are more than willing to increase his annual salary worth around €3 million if he signs a new extension until 2030.
While Napoli are enjoying McTominay’s services, the same can’t be said for Romelu Lukaku, whose future with the team is hanging in the balance. The Partenopei have reportedly banished the Belgian striker for failing to report for training after the international break, opting to stay in his homeland for his rehab. With Lukaku out indefinitely, Rasmus Hojlund – their top scorer with 10 goals – should continue to lead up front for Napoli in their remaining matches.
Injury concerns for Lazio
Lazio may be indifferent in this league game, as they’re virtually out of contention for European football this season. As noted, their main focus will likely be on the Coppa Italia, where they’re level with Atalanta in the semi-finals.
The Biancocelesti have several key injuries to deal with, including Mattia Zaccagni, Daniel Maldini, and Adam Marusic. Maldini and Marusic didn’t play against Fiorentina, while Zaccagni left the game at the start of the second half. Head coach Maurizio Sarri revealed that Zaccagni still started even if he wasn’t 100-per cent fit.
If Zaccagni’s situation worsens, Sarri could go with the front three of Matteo Cancellieri, Boulaye Dia, and Gustav Isaksen, their leading scorer with four goals.
History
Napoli notched an ill-tempered 2-0 win against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico last January, as Leonardo Spinazzola and Amir Rrahmani scored two goals in the first half. Lazio were reduced to 10 men when Tijjani Noslin recorded his second yellow card after a clumsy challenge on Alessandro Buongiorno. Pasquale Mazzocchi and Adam Marusic were also sent off, as the two full-backs got into an altercation before stoppage time.
If Napoli wins again on Saturday, it would mark their first league double over Napoli since the 2021-22 campaign. Before the 2-0 win in the reverse fixture, Napoli drew 2-2 with Lazio in February 2025.
The Partenopei are the only Serie A team that has yet to taste defeat at home this campaign (W11, D4). Moreover, the Biancocelesti have recorded only one win in their last six Serie A away games (D3, L2).
Betting Tip
The Serie A 2026 odds favor Napoli to dispatch Lazio at home on Saturday. The Partenopei are 1.53 favourites to win, whereas the Biancocelesti are huge 5.90 underdogs, and a draw is pegged at 3.58 in the 1X2 market.
Serie A 2026 highlights could be limited for this fixture, given their recent games and head-to-head matchups, which is why we’re going for the Unders. Besides our recommended bet, SBOTOP punters may also add Under 2.50 at 1.64, Under 2.00 at 2.21, and even Total Goal 0-1 at 2.94 to the parlay.
Meanwhile, the Correct Score of 2-0 in favour of Napoli – the result of the reverse fixture – could yield a decent payday of 5.90. Interestingly, any Correct Score that would favour Lazio would yield at least 7.30 your bet.
