Seongnam FC vs Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors
After almost two months of going undefeated in the K-League, the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors finally had their winning streak snapped with a loss against Gangwon FC in the last time out.
That loss gave Ulsan Hyundai a little more cushion in the K-League table, as the league leaders now have 45 points while Jeonbuk remain at second with 41 points especially with the former winning versus FC Seoul with a 3-0 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Seongnam FC have only 18 points and they remain at the 10th spot at the table after suffering two straight defeats against the Pohang Steelers and Ulsan Hyundai.
With points up for grabs as we reach the midway point of the season, this upcoming match is seen to be a must-win for both sides – albeit for different reasons and circumstances.
The K-League 2020 odds heavily favour Jeonbuk to win this weekend. However, in their reverse fixture earlier this season, Seongnam FC and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors ended up with a 2-2 draw at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Seongnam FC not realizing their full potential
Since their auspicious start of the season, Kim Nam-il’s men have slipped all the way down to the K-League standings – and they have been looking for a way to get back on their feet ever since.
Their attack has been suspect for the most part, as they are the second-lowest scoring team in the league with only 15 goals. On the other hand, they have conceded 21 goals.
It’s a good thing for them, however, that they now have a reliable goal scorer in Na Sang-ho. Since his arrival, the FC Tokyo loanee has put in four goals in the last four matches for the Magpies, along with some K-League 2020 highlights.
Looking at the bigger picture, Seongnam FC have yet to fulfill their full potential.
Rookie manager Kim Nam-il has done all he can to keep his squad afloat by trying to implement fresh new tactics almost on a weekly basis.
But doing so can only go so far. And in order to sustain momentum, the Magpies would have to learn how to close out games especially in the game’s later stages.
Perhaps they would need to bolster their depth by bringing in new additions.
Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors suffer untimely setback
Jeonbuk’s bid to defend their title hit a snag when they recently suffered an upset loss against Gangwon FC.
The game was a highly-heated affair than most people would’ve expected, as a total of four yellow cards were handed.
Gangwon FC brought the fight against the defending champions, which led to Kim Ji-hyeon scoring two late goals to seal the deal.
Although their top scorer in Han Kyo-won scored one for Jeonbuk, it is clear than he can’t do it all alone.
For a squad that is playing catch up against the in-form Ulsan Hyundai, all hands would need to be on deck for Jeonbuk.
With Kim Bo-kyung, Takahiro Kunimoto, Modou Barrow, and Gustavo having now settled with the team since their transfers, it is now time for them to step up if they plan on reclaiming the top spot.
